Reflexology removes the tourniquets that stress puts on the body, thereby allowing the blood and nerve supply to flow freely. This brings the body to homeostasis (balance).
According to the AMA, 75% to 95% of all illness is due to stress; therefore removing stress is an excellent tool in the healing process.
What to expect in a session
Your therapy session will begin with a questionnaire or one-on-one question and answer session.
The reflexologist will then work the entire area of both feet.
It will generally take about 45-60 minutes to work the feet. During the session you may feel different sensations in your feet, it may feel like a sharp pain or your feet may feel very sensitive. Sensitivity varies from person to person and from treatment to treatment. But generally the session will be calming and comforting; it will not tickle since it is a firm pressure to the feet. The practitioner will adjust the pressure to suit your needs and level of comfort.
Although Reflexology does not diagnose or treat specific ailments by definition, it has proven highly successful over time to relieve symptoms or ease pain or discomfort that have manifested themselves physically in the body - either as a result of stress, trauma or disease.
After the session
After your session you should be relaxed and invigorated! You are then sent on your way with the expectation that you will have some internal cleansing take place. It is recommended that you drink plenty of water for the rest of the day.

The Ingham Method
Eunice D. Ingham started developing her foot reflex theory in the early 1930's. Her first book was entitled "Stories The Feet Can Tell" was published in 1938. Reflexes on the feet are a mirror image of all the organs, glands and parts of the body - a charted map of the reflexes according to the anatomical model.
